Eclipsys merges with Allscripts
On September 1, 2010, Eclipsys and Allscripts merged to form the new Allscripts. According to the Phil Pead, chairman of the Board of Allscripts and former CEO of Eclipsys, more hospitals and physicians are likely to choose the post merger Allscripts as their EMR considering the ARRA funding milieu.(3, 4). Eclipsys acquired physician practice management software company MediNotes. In 2010, Eclipsys announced a strategic partnership with Microsoft, in which the companies will share technology and promote healthcare information technology interoperability. Both Eclipsys Sunrise Enterprise and Allscripts solutions for physician practices run on common platforms such as Microsoft .NET.
