Mission Critical refers to the device, activity, system, or a combination of the three, whose failure or disruption will halt operation of the entire system. The ability to identity the Mission Critical in any system is important for companies to focus on errors and maintainability. As defined by Investopedia:

“For example, an online business’s mission critical is its communication system. A water filtration company will ceases to function if its water filter system is down and a bakery will have to shut down if it does not get gas or electricity services to fuel the ovens. In this case, the critical function of this business is to bake desserts and its mission critical is the power supply required to run the ovens.”[1]

In terms of healthcare, computerized hospital patient records could be described as Mission Critical since the records would be deemed integral for many functions within the facility.
