OpenVista, is an open source version of VistA electronic health record which is deployed by Veterans Affairs at 1,500 global facilities around the world [3] over the course of two decades. It is estimated that over 400,000 physicians have used and trained with VistA. [1] [1] VistA is written in Standard M programming (MUMPS). [4] Some experts believe that VistA is the largest integrate HIS system worldwide. [4] Physician satisfaction is increased through the use of Vista as time spent using and looking up information on the EHR system averaged to about 20 minutes per day and 100 minutes per week-80 percent less than the overall average of 78 minutes a day/ 6.5 hours per week on EHR-oriented tasks.[2] Which in turn saves time and money with healthcare providers.
