Training Hospital staff on the functionality of a computerized physician order entry, how do you gain buy in during training??

Have you read the paper by Ash et al. Ash JS, Stavri PZ, Dykstra R, Fournier L. Implementing computerized physician order entry: the importance of special people. Int J Med Inform. 2003 Mar;69(2-3):235-50.

It has some ideas in it. I think one of the main things to remember is that you have to convince the clinicians that you are implementing CPOE for clinical reasons (i.e., improved quality, safety, efficiency) rather than information technology reasons (i.e., want to buy new computers and put in a wireless network). Thanks for the reference. I had not found that one yet. Unfortunately our end users are coming to class unprepared and uninformed. The messages about our CPOE implementation have not gotten to the right people. Believe it or not, there are some in our organization who still cannot read email!
