Introduction

Common Data Element (CDE) is a term used to describe specific data which can be collected in clinical trials or studies. The data element is used to establish shared standard key terms that may be used in research, to enhance data quality for use and reuse across multiple studies and over time. The common data element functions as a key, which can then map to an associated value.
