The following year, Skycare joined with UBcare of South Korea in 2012 which they believe may lead to innovative and important advancements in their software development and understanding of the healthcare business. Certifications and Decertifications

Certification

As of July 28, 2014, Skycare is 2014 certified to be a complete EHR under the "ambulatory practice" type. The certifying body that performed the overview is InfoGard. [3]

Skycare is also in compliance with HIPAA and endorsed by the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology. Features offered with Skycare enforcing HIPAA compliance are "User Authentication, Data Limitations, and Emergency Response." [4]

Decertification

On September 2, 2015, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) announced termination of certifications of two EHRs; these EHRs were two different versions of Skycare 4.2 developed by Platinum Health Information Systems Inc. The termination was carried out due to “failure to respond and participate in routine surveillance requests by InfoGard Laboratories Inc. (InfoGard), an ONC Authorized Certification Body (ONC-ACB).”[5]. EHRs must be certified by an ONC-ACB before providers may use them to achieve meaningful use under the EHR Incentive Programs.[5] To date, 48 eligible professionals have attested to stage 1 of the Medicare Meaningful Use program using Skycare.[6] Although, they attested while the products were certified, those providers will now have to transition to other EHR products in order to continue to participate in the program.[6]
