Hot Sites

Hot Sites: can be defined as duplication of the original site of the organization, with full computer systems as well as near-complete backups of user data. Data can be synchronized between the two copies so that they mirror each other.

  • A Hot Site can be used by an organization to continue it's operations when there is a disruption to the original system - such as a power outage - by switching it's employees to it. This can be especially useful to organizations that operate systems in real-time.
  • Maintaining a hot site can be expensive and organizations considering using them need to weigh the cost against the potential benefit.
