Electronic Medical Record Systems

Electronic Medical Records are also called Electronic Health Records, and accordingly often abbreviated with either EMR or EHR. The Electronic Patient Record makes at least a claim to a wider scope, but in practice is likely to be equivalent.

Generally Electronic Medical Records can mean almost anything that tracks health related data per patient. It is much more difficult to say what is a good electronic medical record. Almost any vendor will describe their medical record as innovative, or next-generation. It can be difficult to sort out how much of this is true because there is currently no good measuring stick for EMRs.
