"1) What is Open Source software? Open Source software is Free software developed through the efforts of a community of individual and professional programmers. Open source vendors charge for services (i.e., application hosting and support), not the software.
2) What is OpenEMR? OpenEMR is an Open source Electronic Medical Record and Practice Management software developed by open source community of programmers. OpenEMR found early adopters in technically savvy physicians. mmfEMR is a web-based version of OpenEMR for the practicing physician.
3) What is the need for EMR systems? EMR systems increase physician efficiency and reduce costs, as well as promote standardization of care. Even though EMR systems with computerized provider order entry (CPOE) have existed for more than 30 years, fewer than 10 percent of hospitals as of 2006 have a fully integrated system.

Open Source software's source code is published and made available to the public, enabling anyone to copy, modify and redistribute the source code without paying royalties or license fees. Open source code evolves through community cooperation. These communities are composed of individual programmers as well as very large companies.
6) How much does mmfEMR cost per month? There is no cost for MMF's EMR application, there are charges for third-party services (e.g., e-prescribe $25/mo), which MMF prices at its cost.
7) Is support included in monthly price? There is no cost for MMF's EMR application. 24/7 unlimited & real-time telephone support (per MD, NP, or PA) can be purchased at $50/mo.
8) How long is minimum lock-in period? There is no minimum lock-in. The provider is free to cancal service anytime for any reason. On request, mmfEMR will send you the software and your patient data.
9) What types of practices are currently using mmfEMR software? Orthopedic, Oncology, Internal, Hospitals to name a few. However, our software can be tailored to work with any practice.
10) How can I customize mmfEMR for my office? Using our CAMOS (Computer Aided Medical Ordering Systems) feature, you can customize unlimited fields within the software.
11) What is the logic behind the mmfEMR functionality? Our software is encounter based. The workflow follows in order of each patient encounter with the provider.
12) Which clearing houses are compatible with mmfEMR? All clearing houses are compatible, however currently Zirmed and Availity have been tested.
13) Can patients upload their personal data to mmfEMR prior to visits? Currently, no. We are working on including this feature in the near future.

20) What type of equipment is required to operate OpenEMR? OpenEMR is a web-based application, requiring only an active internet connection for access. It can also function over an intranet when setup locally in a LAN environment. OpenEMR functions in a wide range of operating systems including Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux using any standard web browser.
